During my freshman year of high school, I took a class called "Service Learning." In this class, we learned about the health of the planet and some of the things we learned related to ocean awareness. It was a  great class, but it was missing some hands-on action. Through conversation with our teacher and head of school, my ocean conservation partner, Ryan and I decided to initiate a monthly beach cleanup! This was a great way to get our school’s community involved in helping solve the ocean pollution problem. These cleanups definitely positively affected some of our classmates' viewpoints on the health of the ocean. It also benefits our classmates because it gives them community service hours for their great efforts! Next year, we plan to do this again!
